Early Life

Richard Colson Baker was born on the 22nd April of 1990, in Houston, Texas. His parents both served as missionaries as growing older, which meant that the Bakers often traveled with their family. When he was a kid the family spent time being in Germany, Egypt, and numerous other countries across the world. Furthermore, Baker lived in many different US states. In the end, he and his father settled in Denver following the departure of his mother from the family.

Career

After finishing high school, after returning back to his home in the States, Baker convinced an manager of the MC to assist him in launching his career. At the time Baker chose to use his stage title “Machine Gun Kelly” as reference to his fast-paced singing style. MGK began performing in local venues, and later performed on Harlem’s Apollo Theater. He also performed in MTV2’s Sucker Freestyle. Then, he released his second mixtape, 100 words and running. While MGK was getting more attention at the time however, he struggled financially. He was exiled from the home of his father.
