Kim Ji-soo, known mononymously as Jisoo, is a South Korean singer and actress. She is best known as a member of the best-selling K-pop girl group Blackpink, formed by YG Entertainment, in August 2016.

Kim was born on January 3, 1995 in Gunpo, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. She grew up with her older brother and sister and played basketball and attended taekwondo classes as a child. She attended high school at the School of Performing Arts Seoul. She started a drama club while at school and decided she wanted to pursue a career in entertainment.

Career
Jisoo Kim started her career as a singer in the South Korean industry. In the year 2011, she interviewed for work with YG Entertainment. She was selected as a trainee here and got trained for about 5 years. Later she was asked to join the famous girl group ‘BlackPink’, which was a turning point in her life. She is the oldest member of the group.
In the year 2015, she made a cameo appearance with KBS2 drama ‘The Producers’ with Kang Seungyoon from ‘Winner’, and Sandara Park from 2NE1. She also starred in a lot of advertisements, some of which include Smart Uniform, LG Electronics, Samsonite, Nikon, etc.
On 8 August 2016, she debuted for the single album ‘Square One’ with Jennie, Lisa, and Rose, the other three members of the group ‘BlackPink’. Also in 2017-18, she joined ‘Inkigayo’ as an MC with Jin Young and Doyoung from GOT 7’s, and NCT’s respectively.
Later in 2019, she appeared with a short cameo in the ‘Arthdral Chronicles’ a tvN fantasy Drama, and is also going to star in as a lead role in her first fixed role in ‘Snowdrop’, a JTBC Drama with Jung Hae-in.
