Emmanuelle Grey Rossum is an American actress, director, and singer. She is known for her portrayal of Fiona Gallagher in the television series Shameless. Since the mid-2010s, she has also directed and produced television, including the 2022 Peacock series Angelyne in which she also stars.

Early Life
Emmanuelle Grey Rossum was born in New York City on the 12th of September, 1986. Rossum’s parents separated when her mother was pregnant with her. She identifies as Jewish and has stated that her mother instilled her with a Jewish code of ethics and morals. Rossum has always been interested in acting and singing since she was a kid. Rossum attended to the Spence School which was a private school in Manhattan. She received her high school diploma at the age of 15 and began her acting career when she was 1997.
Personal Life
In 2008, Rossum married Justin Siegel. After Siegel filed for divorce due to irreconcilable differences, the two split in 2010. In 2015, Rossum got engaged to writer and director Sam Esmail, whom she had been seeing for two years. They wed in 2017 at a Reform synagogue in New York City. Rossum has also been involved in many activist pursuits. As a youth, she was a YouthAIDS ambassador. In 2008, she became the spokesperson for the apparel line Pinkitude, helping to raise awareness for breast cancer. Additionally, she has been in PSAs for the Natural Resources Defense Council Action Fund, has fundraised with Global Green USA, and has campaigned with the Best Friends Animal Society.
Career
Emmy Rossum began her acting career in 1997 when she starred in Law & Order, as Alison Martin. That following year she bagged a role in the long-running daytime soap opera ‘As the World Turns’. Rossum also played a guest role in ‘Snoops’ and ‘Genius’ which earned her a Young Artist Award nomination for Best Performance in a movie. In 2000, Rossum portrayed the role of young Audrey Hepburn in ‘The Audrey Hepburn Story’ which gave her a lot of attention from directors and producers. The same year she made her debut on big screen with the movie ‘Songcatcher’ where she played an Appalachian orphan. Rossum starred in the apocalyptic film ‘The Day after Tomorrow’ which was much appreciated and her acting impressed many, she starred as the main character Laura alongside Jack Gyllenhaal. Eventually, Rossum bagged the coveted role in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s film ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ where her perfect portrayal earned her a Golden Globe Award nomination.
