Alexandra Dawn a.k.a Ali Wong was born in San Francisco, California. She was the youngest of her four siblings. Tam a.k.a Tammy Wong, her mother, immigrated to the United States from Central Vietnam in 1960. There she was a social worker and her Chinese-American father, Adolphus Wong, worked for 30 years for Kaiser Permanente as an Anesthesiologist.
Wong completed her graduation from San Francisco University in 2000. She was the President of the Student Body Class. She then applied at UCLA majoring in Asian American studies and came across her keen interest in performing as a member of the university’s LCC Theatre Company.
